When you have, a new fence installed for your home, you may still lack privacy. Materials like chain link fencing can be durable, but you can see right through them. There are some things that you can do to make your new fencing private, such as add wind screens or other fence coverings. Here are some of the DIY projects that you may want to consider to add more privacy to your chain link fencing:

1. Using Simple Netting Or Outdoor Screen Materials For More Privacy

Netting can be a good solution for a privacy screen for your fence. You may want to consider attaching netting materials to use as a guide for climbing plants. In addition to netting, there are also similar windscreen textiles that can be used on your fence to give your yard more privacy. These materials are simple to install with cable ties, twine, or wire. Tie the material to the fence to prevent it from blowing away in stormy weather. This is one of the most affordable options to add privacy to a fence, but it will also need to be replaced when it becomes worn or damaged.

2. Cover Your Fence With Reclaimed Materials For A Unique Privacy Screen

Reclaimed materials are becoming a popular resource for construction and home renovations. They can also make an interesting resource if you want to have a unique privacy solution for your fence. You may want to consider using materials like old barn wood on sections of your fence that you want to have more privacy. Old metal roofing, siding, and recycled waste can also be used for a unique privacy solution for your fence. It may even be a good idea to consider using these materials for the construction of a new fence around your home.

Wasted Basement? Renovate It and Rent It

My husband and I have a large basement we've never really used. We started storing items in it, and it seemed like such a waste of a large area of our home. We also have a nephew in college in the area who we knew was paying a high price for an apartment he could barely afford. We came up with the idea of turning our basement into a mini-apartment and offering it to him for less than his current rent. He loved the idea, and the renovation was faster than we imagined it would be. We are all so happy it all worked out, and that we had a great basement to help my nephew through college at the same time. I created this blog to encourage others to use their basement for more than just holding boxes.
